A few years back, when Raven was in his senior years, his hind legs began to give up. A visit to a neurologist revealed some age-related deformities on his spine. Our choices were to take a wait & see approach and experiment with holistic medicine, or surgery. With Raven’s age and severe skin issues, the doctor advised us against the surgery due to the very high risk of infection. So, off we went searching for other ways to help our beloved pup.
After asking around and with some luck we found Landau Veterinary Services in Belchertown, MA. And I am SO happy we did because, to be honest, Raven probably would not be around for the 4 years we still spent together. The neurologist told us that one day, Raven may wake up and not be able to walk. I am happy to tell you that never happened. In fact, after we started taking Raven to see Dr. Landau (or as known in our household- Dr. Kevin), his overall health improved and he lived until he was 13 years old. Lady also became Dr. Kevin’s patient shortly after we discovered this wonderful clinic. Both of them received excellent care and treatments included cold laser therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, and Chinese herbal supplements.
Landau Veterinary Services(LVS) is an all-holistic veterinary practice dedicated to promoting the health of dogs, cats, and horses by seeing the individual and raising the body's ability to heal itself. The business started in 1999 when Dr. Landau made the decision to offer a service that animal owners did not realize they needed, and stopped providing primary care. Dr. Landau created a clinic that animals and owners love to come to because of the compassionate and attentive treatment of each family. His staff loves what they do in facilitating healing, empathy, and calm. I can tell you that our pups absolutely loved going to see Dr. Kevin and we jokingly called it their “spa day”….you know massages and all!
When I asked Dr. Kevin why he loves dogs, he told me this and I could not agree more: “I love dogs because they make me happy to be around them. They are in the moment and honest. They save so many people in so many ways and I do not think we can do anything but our very best to keep them well and happy.’” Insert me tearing up….ugh we so don’t deserve dogs.
As for many, 2020 had been a scary year. LVS made the conscious decision to allow owners to come in with their animals when most other practices did not. They do this as safely as possible.
The clinic recently expanded its facility and now has an even more amazing environment to help animals get well in. Dr. Landau’s plan is to firmly establish LVS as the region's premier source for holistic health care and information for animals. I have no doubt they will achieve this!
