Super cars for super cause!

As a child, I spent many days and nights at the hospital battling some severe medical conditions.  When I was around ten years old, I had to spend my whole summer vacation at the hospital to undergo multiple tests and treatments.  Luckily, my parents did not have to worry about cost or quality of this care.  While I don’t have children of my own (well, at least not the ones without the fur!), it was always important to me that children have access to the best healthcare available and that their families can have access to that care.

A few months back, while looking for charities I can volunteer my time and talent, I came across this fantastic event put together by the great people at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and Concorso Ferrari & Friends! While I don’t drive anything as fancy and powerful, I was super excited to attend this event and see all these majestic automobiles, especially for such a great cause!

Concorso Ferrari & Friends is a wonderful group of automobile owners who wanted to use their beautiful exotic cars to help cheer up patients at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.  This year was their 18th year of holding this event!  It was indeed an amazing event showcasing some powerful cars like Ferrari, Pagani, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeos, Maserati, and others.  Hundreds of excited people, adults and children alike, gathered at the sunny LaSalle Road in West Hartford to enjoy this event.  It was an exhilarating car ride for forty Connecticut Children’s Medical Center patients who were paired with the drivers and driven through the streets of downtown West Hartford, greeted by the crowds of cheering spectators.  One hundred sixty cars participated in this year’s event that raised over $175,000!

Mr. Horacio Pagani, the founder of Pagani Automobili joined this year’s event from Modena, Italy. Pagani is an Italian specialty auto-maker that produces some of the fastest, most exotic and expensive cars in the world.   After the parade, Mr. Pagani was kind enough to sign autographs for many excited attendees.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the new Infusion & Dialysis Facilities at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where children requiring infusions for Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, kidney disease and many other chronic conditions will receive world-class care in a state of the art location.

This event is free and open to the public (and you can bring your well behaved pooch too!), so keep your eyes open for the 2019 date!
